Welcome to the Purple Hollow WildYarn Preserve!
Several years ago, I was sitting in my trusty soft chair by a giant window in my living room. It was a peaceful and beautiful rainy day, and I was in the middle of crocheting a medium-sized blanket when I suddenly had bad spasms. I think it was from crocheting a cal-king blanket using jumbo yarns. Boy, did my arms and shoulders hurt from hefting that thing row after row! Anyway, I digress!
I had to put my project down to stand up, but for some reason, the yarn suddenly moved on its own, and it crocheted itself into a log pillow! You bet your strawberry cheesecake slice that I was bewildered by the whole thing. The pillow log suddenly popped up and started lulling me into sleep, and I was comfortable. I slept well and had no back spasms!
Since then, I've been on the hunt for colors, and I've successfully built my first zoo full of captured crocheted pillow logs! They are caged but well-taken care of! They are safe and warm.
That's how the Purple Hollow WildYarn Preserve came about. It's a dangerous job, but someone has to ensure they go to a good home... err...a napper of all ages. That person is me!
Come stop by my store and check out each caged pillow and consider getting one or two for your family or friends. I think the pillows would love to be re-homed. The zoo not only has captured log pillows but also blankets/quilts of all sizes.
It's colorfully crazy in the zoo! So many colors that it drives my husband crazy and makes my adult children ponder if I should stop drinking too much tea!
**Disclaimer:
This post is intentionally written to be funny. No yarns or hooks were harmed in the process. The log pillows do NOT come alive. They're handmade and are designed for the bedroom, living room, camping, or anywhere you can sleep in. No real animals were used. My two cats absolutely love their crocheted mats, and they hiss at me if I move them to vacuum the carpets.**
